WORD COUNT:
Word count is important! The costs of printing have risen to the point that large books are no longer cost effective, particularly for the small publisher. We rarely publish books over 90,000 words because the cost becomes too high to make the book competitive in today's market.
So are you correctly figuring your Word Count? If you're using the word count provided by your word processing program (i.e., Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, etc.) you are not figuring it correctly. Computerized word count does not take into account white space. White space is the open space after short sentences and unfinished pages at the end of a chapter.
